The French Embassy in Laos and the French Institute of Laos invite you to two exhibitions and several events around the art of internationally renowned Lao-French artist Tiao David Somsanith, from March 10 to 14 at different cultural venues in Vientiane.
Discover the finesse of Somsanith’s gold thread embroidery and his reproductions of Luang Prabang Buddhist stencils, thanks to two special exhibitions:
• Exhibition “Simplicity and refinement. The stencil, Buddhist art of Luang Prabang “at the National School of Fine Arts old building (Chao Anou Gallery) in Vientiane from 11 to 13 March, 10:00 to 17:30 pm.
• Exhibition “From embroidery to stencils: the many facets of the art of Somsanith” on13 & 14 March, 10:00 to 16:30 at the Résidence de France. Registration required: https://expo-somsanith.interactions-laos.fr/

- Stencil technique demonstration workshops by the artist on 11 & 12 March from 15:00 to 17:00, at the National School of Fine Arts old building (Chao Anou Gallery).
- Conference by Mr. Francis Engelmann, Luang Prabang heritage specialist, on the art of stenciling (origins, repertoire, developments) and the works of Somsanith. In French with interpretation in Lao & English, on 11 March at 18:00 pm at the French Institute of Laos.
