DELF – DALF

The French Ministry of National Education offers a wide range of certifications in French as a foreign language (diplomas and tests) to validate French language skills, from beginner to advanced levels. The offerings are suitable for all ages and learners and are aligned with the six-level Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The diplomas (DELF, DALF) are independent and certify mastery of the four language skills. They are valid indefinitely. These certifications are internationally recognized and frequently used by foreign ministries of education. They are offered in more than 1,200 examination centers across 175 countries.

DELF for all audiences.
The DELF is the French language diploma. It is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of National Education. There are four diplomas corresponding to the first four levels described by the CEFR: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, and DELF B2. Each diploma is independent (for example, if I want to take the DELF A2, I don’t need to take the DELF A1 first).

Each diploma assesses 4 skills:
– Listening comprehension
– Reading comprehension
– Written production
– Oral production

Who takes the DELF for the general public?
